Hi fairy bugs thanks for joining.
We have a real treat for you today, something to give you food for thought for your special day, something to make you consider the different, and something that will blow your socks off! Yes we're sharing with you the first themed wedding of the season, and it's all about The wild west.........Rodeo themed to be precise.
So let's set the scene........it's a glorious Saturday in the yorksire village of bedale. Nestled away is camp katur, normally known for its adventure activities and glamping, it has theme perfect rustic barn ready to hold it's first rodeo wedding. Surrounded by fields and a quaint duck pond it's picture perfect. There is morning hustle and bustle as the wedding planners hop to setting up some of the days activities.
As guests start to arrive dressed in their best western attire there's a rumble of giggles and a few cheeky yeeeehhaaaaas. It's clear to see that this wedding is going to be fun filled as the excitement builds.
As guests are welcomed into the barn there is the most creative and impressive decor to surprise us. Hay bales covered in beautiful decorative throws are inviting to sit on, Wild West bunting strategically hangs around the room teamed with fairy lights, and hanging from the rafters there are over sized branches filled with floating hearts, more lighting and novelty accessories. Not forgetting the large american flag at the end of the barn, the perfect nod to the bride and grooms trip which started this love affair with the Wild West.
Vroom vroom.....what's that.....a beast of a roar echoes around........the groom has only gone and pulled in in THE muscle car......a stunning white and blue mustang. Music kicks in and with cheers from guests Kristian made his way down the aisle to await his bride to be.
The rings are passed up to the front by every guest under the watchful eye of the best man, to gain a blessing before being placed in their permanent position. A beautiful notion.
What's this more music it can only mean one thing......eeeek. The bridesmaids and flowers girls shuffle and bop down the aisle, before cheers for the father of the bride and bride raise the roof. Looking stunning the bride rocks a coral satin corset with feather trim, lace skirt and the most fabulous embroidered cow boy boots.
And the service begins!
With personal vows and tears shared, the bride and groom have written a letter for each other to share on their 10th wedding anniversary (OMG love this) so that they can reminisce and share memories later on.
I Do's said and we're off outside for a cheeky tipple, as the bride and groom take part in the neccessary photo shoot.
Now alongside the barn is a hall where the wedding breakfast will take place. As guests roll in we're once again bowled over by the novelty decoration. Long tables and benches are covered in hessian with lace runners and small vases of flowers are evenly spaced. The favours were amazing:
- a cactus
- mini pistol earrings
- a small jar of moon shine (whiskey)
- and a mini can of coke
There were even pop up Wild West scenes at the end of every table which emphasised the theme. Emotional and humorous stories relived by the father of the bride and best man entertained everyone and after a few cheeky toasts it was time to get our feast on. We were all in for a real treat Big D's BBQ had been booked in to cater for the special day, and cater they did! Pulled pork, burgers, sausages, meat loaf.........anything and everything you could have wanted was on offer! Now as cake people we must highlight the finishing touch...mmmmmm......key lime pie covered in cream. I think most guests had to be rolled outside afterwards.
With the food settling and drinks a flowing it was time for guests, who dared, to try and beat the bucking bronco! Yeehhaa. Yours truly had a go but was flung off after and embarrassingly short time! For tamer guests there was also a bouncy castle! Needless to say that also saw guests hurtling around :)
With the hale bales scattered outside the barn it was time for the first dance. Slowly, beautifully and well timed the couple began their dance.......what's that.....the DJ has messed up.......nah!.......Chaka khan Chaka khan .......oh yeah party time the bride and groom looked fantastic pulling the best shapes and encouraging guests to join in. This was certainly a sign of more fun on the way!!
All of a sudden guests were surprised by a western style band who taught any willing person how to pull some moves Texan style. Amazing! Partying on into the night this wedding was a fantastic unique occasion and will certainly be remembered well.
