Real life Wedding: Kristian and Leanne

Hi fairy bugs thanks for joining.
We have a real treat for you today, something to give you food for thought for your special day, something to make you consider the different, and something that will blow your socks off! Yes we're sharing with you the first themed wedding of the season, and it's all about The wild west.........Rodeo themed to be precise.
So let's set the scene........it's a glorious Saturday in the yorksire village of bedale. Nestled away is camp katur, normally known for its adventure activities and glamping, it has theme perfect rustic barn ready to hold it's first rodeo wedding. Surrounded by fields and a quaint duck pond it's picture perfect. There is morning hustle and bustle as the wedding planners hop to setting up some of the days activities.
As guests start to arrive dressed in their best western attire there's a rumble of giggles and a few cheeky yeeeehhaaaaas. It's clear to see that this wedding is going to be fun filled as the excitement builds.

As guests are welcomed into the barn there is the most creative and impressive decor to surprise us. Hay bales covered in beautiful decorative throws are inviting to sit on, Wild West bunting strategically hangs around the room teamed with fairy lights, and hanging from the rafters there are over sized branches filled with floating hearts, more lighting and novelty accessories. Not forgetting the large american flag at the end of the barn, the perfect nod to the bride and grooms trip which started this love affair with the Wild West.

Vroom vroom.....what's that.....a beast of a roar echoes around........the groom has only gone and pulled in in THE muscle car......a stunning white and blue mustang. Music kicks in and with cheers from guests Kristian made his way down the aisle to await his bride to be.

The rings are passed up to the front by every guest under the watchful eye of the best man, to gain a blessing before being placed in their permanent position. A beautiful notion.
What's this more music it can only mean one thing......eeeek. The bridesmaids and flowers girls shuffle and bop down the aisle, before cheers for the father of the bride and bride raise the roof. Looking stunning the bride rocks a coral satin corset with feather trim, lace skirt and the most fabulous embroidered cow boy boots.

And the service begins!

With personal vows and tears shared, the bride and groom have written a letter for each other to share on their 10th wedding anniversary (OMG love this) so that they can reminisce and share memories later on.

I Do's said and we're off outside for a cheeky tipple, as the bride and groom take part in the neccessary photo shoot.

Now alongside the barn is a hall where the wedding breakfast will take place. As guests roll in we're once again bowled over by the novelty decoration. Long tables and benches are covered in hessian with lace runners and small vases of flowers are evenly spaced. The favours were amazing:
- a cactus
- mini pistol earrings
- a small jar of moon shine (whiskey)
- and a mini can of coke

There were even pop up Wild West scenes at the end of every table which emphasised the theme. Emotional and humorous stories relived by the father of the bride and best man entertained everyone and after a few cheeky toasts it was time to get our feast on. We were all in for a real treat Big D's BBQ had been booked in to cater for the special day, and cater they did! Pulled pork, burgers, sausages, meat loaf.........anything and everything you could have wanted was on offer! Now as cake people we must highlight the finishing touch...mmmmmm......key lime pie covered in cream. I think most guests had to be rolled outside afterwards.

With the food settling and drinks a flowing it was time for guests, who dared, to try and beat the bucking bronco! Yeehhaa. Yours truly had a go but was flung off after and embarrassingly short time! For tamer guests there was also a bouncy castle! Needless to say that also saw guests hurtling around :)

With the hale bales scattered outside the barn it was time for the first dance. Slowly, beautifully and well timed the couple began their dance.......what's that.....the DJ has messed up.......nah!.......Chaka khan Chaka khan .......oh yeah party time the bride and groom looked fantastic pulling the best shapes and encouraging guests to join in. This was certainly a sign of more fun on the way!!
All of a sudden guests were surprised by a western style band who taught any willing person how to pull some moves Texan style. Amazing! Partying on into the night this wedding was a fantastic unique occasion and will certainly be remembered well.

Congratulations again to Mr and Mrs Edwards!

Weddings Inspiration of the week x

Hi fairy bugs,
It's inspiration time! So let's get cracking with this weeks mood board. Soft pinks, creams and whites create a dreamy, powdery, timeless look and when lace, soft ruffles and whimsical balloons are added your special day will ooze fairlytail like connotations.
If your a bride looking for a soft palette and delicate edge then this could be a great starting point for you. Earlier this week we shared a piece on balloons and how they are making a trend comeback. If your looking for your UP moment then balloons are a great way of achieving this. Check out this weeks feature for nifty ideas on turning balloons into beautiful pieces for dressing a room.
You may not be into vintage but suitcases are a great way to collect cards, be a central festure for sweet stations or use mini version on table centre pieces adding floral notes. You can buy cases in various patterns and shapes each offering a different look.
Lots of people seem to be moving away from cakes with ribbons and encrusted jewels as they are a little old fashioned, but how stunning is it when added to this ombré ruffle cake. It takes on a whole new look. Creating the ombré keeps the cake looking super new!
Lace trims or lace prints on stationary are a great way of softening edges and echoing a softer more delicate theme. 2 colours as shown below are simple yet effective. Or if you have lace detailing on dresses or bouquets why not incorporate the trim or lace pattern on your stationary proceeding your wedding day puzzle together.
Finally we just wanted to touch on the dresses shown below. Beautifully styled in lovely shades of coral the bridesmaids emphasise the feminine simplicity of the brides ensemble. Another really lovely detail to note is the accent purple flowers in the poses. An unusual element but it really lifts the bouquets. A little food for thought.
Happy planning xx

Weddings......it's in the detail x

Hi fairy bugs,
Welcome to another mid week drop of ideas and inspiration for you and your special day.

Question.......balloons or no balloons?

Over the last few years balloons seem to have been tainted with a tacky and cheap brush but, luckily all that is changing! There are lots of new and exciting ways to make balloons look chic and stylish which, is certainly a great turning point for all you lovers of "UP" out there. If you looking to recreate your very own "UP" photo opportunitys then there are some super ways to include beautiful balloons into your day. We've listed a few to get the creative juices-a-flowing:

1) balloons in balloons - both in different colours
2) multiply ribbons -different widths and colours
3) fill your balloons with confetti
4) cover balloons in contrast chiffon or net
5) add fabric or ribbon knots to extended balloons ribbons
6) use circular balloons (very on trend)

Why not have a toot on Pinterest, Instagram and Google images for inventive imagery. Create a mood board of details you love and bibbidi bobbidi boo you have a plan :)

We've picked a beautiful photograph from Anthony Hoang photography to show how stunning balloons can look when newer, creative details are added. In summary it looks whimsical and romantic........ So for all you dreamy brides to be who have dreamt about their weddings since they were a little girl........how about balloons?

Yummy cake!

Hi fairy bugs,
Wowzers what a weekend, jam packed and full of fun and scrumptious food! We simply had to share with you the best bit! A rather special 80th birthday cake! Now I know we're a wedding blog but once you've seen this cake you may most certainly want to check out the wedding cake selection from this talented cake sculpting Trojan.
Occasion cakes, Bolton have been been around longer than yours truly and have perfected their place in the cake world by sculpting and moulding some of the most beautiful cakes. Birthday cakes, to weddings, christenings to retirement.......basically any reason you may need a cake and no matter the request they will certainly be able to help!
It all started with an idea and pictures of a small woofy character, who is the apple of his grandmas eye. The outcome a squeal, a laugh and a kiss on the cakes nose! Yep the cake was a hit. Moulded in the form of a jack Russell and with novelty accessories to boot the cake looked fantastic.
It really is worth a visit to the Occasion cakes showroom, on chorley old road, bolton as there are always an array of wedding cakes on display. Multi tiers, cupcakes, mini cakes there's something for everyone. For contact and info check their website out Occasion cakes

Wedding Inspiration of the Week x

Hi fairy bugs,
Thanks for joining us for our wedding inspiration of the week. It's a little Bibbidi bobbidi boo for you!
We thought we'd share with you a more summery theme, perfect for anyone looking for a country-esque or make do and mend style.
Yellow can sometimes be a hard colour to co-ordinate and can often look quite stark. Well not here folks. We've combined frosted lemon with cool golden tones and the overall look is fresh, summery and calming. Mixing your tones is the best way to achieve this effortless, whimsical beauty.
If your a lover of flowers, we suggest picking your favourites from the English garden selection and fashionably arranging them ......... So basically give them the random look! One really subtle but effective detail which we feel is key from the below imagery is the light blue flowers in the poses. It really makes them pop and adds more depth to your palette.
Now how divine is the stationary shown below? Sophisticated fonts with subtle pattern on the card. If you prefer a bolder statement but love the softness of this theme then why not add watercolour flowers in a corner and echo that throughout. You could even opt for a single blue flower to compliment the bouquets previously mentioned. The great thing about watercolour is it's delicate appearance, but it doesn't half pack a punch in terms of style.
Now we know the lemon lollipops are a little obvious for a yellow theme but.........we love them! Especially in their printed hessian bags! Does anybody remember the fruit shaped lollipops from our childhood? Orange, lemon, etc......why not add a couple to each bag for favours. You'll be surprised how many people remember them!
Cake........mmmmmmm........it's all well and good decorating the outside but how about lemon ombré on the inside or tonal layers. When cut it will look super special. A little suggestion on flavour give lemon and rose water a try.......it's amazing!
Now let's talk dresses. This is purely a matter of opinion and taste. We suggest one of 2 things. Crisp white with frosted lemon or ivory with pastel golden tones of yellow. The tones in either sit together beautifully and sit more uniformed. The image below shows a beautiful English rose style of dressing but if you prefer simplicity, clean lines, draping or lace.......this theme will still work. You can adapt it to your style easily. Top tip.......go with your instinct!

Weddings.......it's in the detail x

Hi fairy bugs,
We've got a new "weddings.........it's in the detail" for you......exciting.
Having a summer wedding and need a novelty idea or inspiration to keep your guests entertained through the afternoon? Why not provide your guests with old Skool garden games. Good clean fun and even with a few cheeky tipples in you can be played. Croquet, hoops or even newer versions giant Jenga or connect 4. If there are younger members of the wedding party, this is perfect for them to take part.
There are plenty of giant versions available to rent and there's certainly lots of fun to be had. Why not have a large chalk score board and prizes. A good accompaniment to this is popcorn or candy floss. If you love vintage or period fashions this could be the stand out feature for your wedding!

Happy planning xx

Wedding buy of the week x

Hi fairy bugs,
We hope you've have a lovely weekend.........always a plus when the sun is shining. It's certainly picnic weather which got us thinking. Cute novelty accessories.....mmmmmmm now there's a thought. Bringing a bit of retro delight to your day, while brightening up your table with little favours full of fun!
Yep we've hit the web just for you to bring you food for thought........or more rather sweets for thought. We came across these fab little finds and loved the customized labels, along with the fact they remind us of our youth. Mini milk bottles. Fill them with yummy treats, add a personal message and sit these lovelies on your tables for your guests to devour!
Now where will you find these little darlings...........a wedding less ordinary. Now don't fret if you have a large wedding party. The more you buy the cheaper they are per item!! This could take them down to as £1.85 each.......take a gander! They're made of glass with a screw top enabling your guests to keep them as a momento and fill them with anything they desire. Take a peek at the photos for this product as the last one showcases a variety of stickers to attach to the bottle. It will get your creative juices flowing.
These bottles could also be a great hen do party bag filler! Again a nifty little piece to remember the fun times with. Or how an addition to the kids table? Give them their own little space and treat them to yummy jellies.
Happy planning xx
