Simplistic perfection x

Hi fairy bugs,
Well we're in full swing this wedding season and there are so many beautiful ideas popping up. Some of our favourites here at TFG HQ are the most simple ideas as we find they pack a punch in terms of wow factor.
If your planning a summer wedding next year and need some money saving ideas then how about this little stunner. We came across the idea on Pinterest (one of our favourite wedding idea hotspots). Confetti.co.uk have shown a great way to create simplistic perfection. Quite literally too. Using miniature bird cages and the notorious baby's breath, they have combined the pair in perfect harmony. The outcome........gorgeous centrepieces.
Now you could always add a note of a different colour, another flower or beaded accessories but, the way this delicate, and might we say shabby chic-esque display is slightly perfect as is.
What do you think?

Pimp your Cupcake x

Hey Fairy bugs,
happy summer fun! Here at TFG HQ we are totally loving the summer weather and the longer, lighter days. Not to mention all the exciting weddings we have coming up!! Don't you just love wedding season.
Are you getting married soon?……..need a novel idea thats a touch different?………got a sweet tooth? If you answered yes to any of these then we may just have an idea to share that will boost your day!
Now we love a toot on Pinterest and keeping our peepers on everything stateside..who doesn't? But when we saw this idea that the Huffington Post shared we knew we had to share it with our readers too. We're just good like that :)
Now we know cupcakes have been on the radar for a while and are certainly the biggest trend of "things to have" at a wedding, but why not take your love of everything sweet to a whole new level. Think sweet table meets cupcake table, hashed (beautifully) together and well-a! You have a "Pimp your Cupcake" table. OMG don't you just love it. All your favourite toppings, sweet or savoury treats packed onto a table ready for your guests to throw on top of a delicious cupcake.
Make it colourful, bright, fun with a note for all your guests to "Get stuck in decorating". It's great for kids but big kids (AKA adults) too.
So what are you waiting for add it to your wedding day agenda……. Happy Planning xx

A Nifty Idea x

Hi Fairy bugs,
thanks for joining! We're here with yet another nifty idea for your special day.
One of the big trends of the moment is having props! Props that either appear in the background of photos or can be used to create fun, memorable moments. There are so many ideas out there, and we know you like a unique idea.
Today's nifty idea was inspired by summer garden furniture. No……we've not gone mad, (yet). It's about up-cycling, using what you have and a little bit of homemade wonderfulness. Not Costing the earth but having a massive impact perfect for those kodak moments.
It all started with a rather tired swing chair, some waterproof fabric and a domestic sewing machine. Oh yes! Just imagine (setting the scene), a beautiful wedding day, sun shining, a delightful outside space and a perfect spot for a swing and a cheeky snap or two. Divine.
Rather than costing the earth use what you have! If you love make do and mend, then this is certainly for you. Making the new cover and cushion set was super easy. After removing all the old covers, patterns were made, sewn were necessary and placed back in their prime positions. Paying for only the fabric and thread, not only will it look uber fun on your special day it will be great back home too! Don't worry if you can't sew……ask a family member or friend to help. It could be an early wedding present :)

Not only does it look lush but how cute will this be in your photos.

Friends & family + swing chair + novelty signs or prop's = happy snapping

Now that's nifty!!

D.I.Y Bride x

Hi Fairy bugs,
welcome to our D.I.Y bride feature, made to inspire you, encourage crafty fun and to be purse friendly at this expensive time!
Decorating your venue is a key part to making your day super special. Whether inside or outside, you will want everything to be perfect and fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. Showing off a continuity where ever your guests may wander to, whilst being present in the background of photos adding a certain edge to them.
You may have already started to book your props, flowers and extras but what about bunting. Now it doesn't have to be the traditional kind which can take ages to make and if not cut and sewn perfectly, will look wonky! How about other options were you can literally do it yourself (or with the help of your wedding party). They take no time to make but will add an extra level of detail to your special day.
As you know, we're a huge fan of pinterest and wanted to share with you one of the great finds to help inspire you. (so exciting).

1. Paper Hearts

Simply pick your favourite patterned paper cut into strips in a variety of lengths and staple together. Then hole punch a hole in the centre piece to thread onto twine or ribbon. Love this idea from daisydayz.hubpages.com

2. Doily Bunting

Simply buy some crochet doilies, cut in half and sew some binding across the top trapping the doily in the centre. Bish bash bosh. Or you can find the above on etsy.com

3. Felt Hearts

Sketch a heart shaped design on card. It could be traditional, quirky, romantic, big or small. Then cut that out and use it as a stencil, to repeat your shape on the felt. Once cut, pin two hearts together trapping your ribbon in the centre and sew around the edge as shown. If you don't have a machine or don't like sewing…….. just use glue :)
This lovely bunting can be found on notonthehighstreet.com

4. Paper Tassels

Tissue paper is a great money saver and looks super once pieced together. With a 50cm length of tissue paper. Slice up from each edge 20cm, so that in the centre of the paper there is a 10cm width which is not cut into (sliced). Once done, twist the centre piece until tight and fold in half. You can now add the ribbon and continue to twist the paper, trapping the ribbon. To Make sure its completely secure cut some fine pieces of cellotape and attach at the bottom of the twisted section. Well-ah!
There are so many inspiring images to find but this one was from etsy.com

5. Ruffle bunting

For this bunting its easier to use a sewing machine but you can hand stitch as well. Choose your longest straight stitch on your machine, (or if hand sewing stitch a simple running stitch is required). Your fabric length should be roughly double the required length and the width is up to you. For cute ruffles maybe give between 6-8cm a go. If you have pinking shears, simply trim the edges so you get a gorgeous zig zag edge. Don't for get to do a backstitch before sewing down the centre of your length, it needs to be secure at one end. Zooooom off you go sewing down the centre. Once at the end, grab one piece of the thread and pull. Pushing the gathered section down until all the length is gathered, finishing with knotting the cotton thread and trimming. These will look so pretty you'll be making them for your home :) This beautiful piece was found at thesweetestoccasion.com

6. Crochet Bunting

Ok so this is a little tricky. Our advice speak, ask the grannies if they can help, unless you have a crafty friend. Triangles, flowers, hearts……….ahhhhh don't they look divine! These beauts can be found at crochet.craftgossip.com

7. Fabric strip bunting

This last idea is almost as easy as the doily option. Choose your perfect fabrics. Cut them into inch width strips (varied lengths), pinking the edges as you go. Then simply tie them onto your ribbon! Done! How easy is that!!! We love it. This inspiration came from ruffledblog.com

We hope we've inspired you to become one with your inner craft bug, whilst managing to save you some pennies too.
Don't forget bunting isn't just for ceilings and doorways. It works perfectly around table edges, draped across crooks in gardens and a way of creating pretty walkways.

Hi fairy bugs,
Thanks for following its been a little while but we're back with lots of fun ideas for you, so keep your peepers with us!
We been catching up with the exciting newness on Pinterest (jadore pinterest)! We've come across a fun idea on a great blog (myweddingreceptionideas.com) and we knew we had to share it with you.
If your looking for a way to get your guests completely included in your special day, why not create a novel way to do so. Perfect for photo opportunities, for entertainment and a cracking giggle maker! Look no further than you very own wheel of fortune! Now it doesn't have to be as extravagant as a large wooden wheel as per the below photo, it could be a large flat wheel with a fitting arrow spinner.
Or printed segments pieced together on a cork or foam board and positioned perfectly on an easel.
There are lots of fun variations just make it colourful and bright with a sign for guests, signalling their taking part as a must :)
