Weddings......its in the detail x

Hi fairy bugs,
One word.......stationary. A key feature in a wedding....... A scene setter......... And the first glimpse of your wedding for your guests! Whether you opt to create and craft your own or to hire a designer to, your stationary is an important part of your wedding process and design.
Save the dates are a great way of showing off your fun, creative side before sending out formal invitations. It's a chance to excite your guests for things to come.
If you have a theme this is the very place to show it off and to encourage colour that you will showcase throughout the day. If you haven't got a specific theme not to worry..... You can always opt for fun traditional patterns or mixed papers to keep your stationary looking special. Spots, stripes, florals, embossed designs, flocked papers all achieve beautiful results. Just focus on your colours and that will tie everything together!
We wanted to share with you these charismatic pieces from 'La belle vie designs' from Etsy. A quirky take on best of British, with a precise design to boot. The colours are statement, while the text is divinely royalist. We're in love with the gorgeous detailing, the stamp and postcard layout with a smartly illustrated guardsman, the beautiful regal-esque pattern and not to mention the well executed layout and fun text on the invites. All in all they compliment each other sublimely and can be echoed on favours, table plans and name cards. It's all a little Bibbidi bobbidi boo that your guests will love!
Don't be scared to try ideas mocking up first will help...... Be creative, be inspired and be you! Happy planning xx

You could even pick one that could double up as a room accessory so when guests visit you can share the best bits from your wedding day. Wedding Inspiration of the week x

Hi fairy bugs,
Happy Friday! We hope you've all had a lovely week and any planning you may be doing is coming together nicely. If your still undecided on the theme for your special day let us help inspire you, or give food for thought on additional details.
This weeks colour is grey. Not normally associated with highlight colours for wedding days it normally has connotations, of cold, dull and drab. Well not in today's theme. There's an element of delicate refinement and classic tailoring, but when styled with whimsical design and floral notes becomes beautifully dainty. Keeping tones quite soft and almost pastel like achieves an almost vintage version of the usually risqué shade.
Bringing in feminine, floaty dresses, cakes with perfectly formed petals or ruffles and thoughtful lavendar heart shaped favours adds a softer approach to this theme. lavendar not only adds a shabby chic touch but a divine scent. Buckets of lavender strategically positioned throughout the day will add a warming scent, a sense of calm and pretty unique detailing. If you opt for the heart favours double them up as garland decoration if you have an outdoor space.
Floral design would be delightful if slightly more wild with sublime green foliage mixed and matched roughly. Including whites and even a touch of lavendar by preference would encourage an exquisite display for poses and centrepieces. Smaller clusters at table centres would be just the ticket and if you source unique jars, teapots and vases with a crackled silver finish will brighten up the powder greys.
Stationary is always the place to set the scene and we rink should be well thought through. Piecing your day together, while teasing guests of the day to come. Whether opting for clean precision, floral touches, mixed prints or simple 2 colour you can make them sublime with funky fonts. Investigate these as they can enhance your theme.
If you want a more prim finish opt for satin dresses, chair how's and table runners.......or if you prefer chinse pretty patterns in grey for dresses and bows would be perfection. We hope we've inspired you.
Happy planning xx

Weddings......its in the detail x

Hi fairy bugs,
It's Wednesday of yet another short week! Woo hoo! So why not grab a coffee and kick back, mulling over today's inspiration.
Now as a bride to be it's your prerogative to look for that detail that's unique, quirky and hopefully a first at your wedding. Something that will get your guests talking and will leave funny messages to reminisce on for years after your special day.
Partial to personal messages from loved ones and the thought of a memory box filled to the brim of notions from your wedding, this idea is the next step. Wall art is becoming more popular, and wedding wall art even more so. There's no better way to preserve and display heart felt messages of love, kind words and advise than asking your guests to write on smaller tokens which then contribute to a larger piece of art.
The below specifically asks for advise, but why not ask your guests for their favourite memory of you as a couple, a personal message, even a drawing. The mix of text, colours and content will make the piece so much more interesting and re memorable. Whether wooden as below, framed paper hearts in a box or wooden hearts in a dropped delicately into a glass front frame you wil achieve an amazing memory bank full of love xx

Wedding Inspiration of the week x

Hi fairy bugs,
All set for Easter? Easter egg hunts, chocolate devouring, family fun Easter. We thought we'd create a very spring themed mood board for you this week with an eclectic mix of vintage-sque details to create a whimsical , wonderful, wedding theme.
Mixing floral bridesmaids dresses with a retro styled wedding gown incorporating lace, embellishment and baby's breath poses will create an impressive style conscious bridal party look. Flowing dresses that skim the floor offer a simplicity perfect for garden weddings, outdoor locations and for unstated glamour.  If you like florals oversized, blurred or naive florals are bang on trend. Simply dress the bridesmaids in the same print for effect.
Floral elements are best selected as wild ingredients. They offer a more natural, less uniformed approach which, can look most beautiful the more random the picking and tonal the coloration. Echo centre pieces and groomsmen pins with key flowers, ensuring all floral pieces gel together.
When looking for fun, interesting details which, you could have scattered at different points in your venue we found the below imagery. Fun shabby chic wedding signs letting your guests know where and when key events are in the day. A creatively pieced ladder and kooky LOVE sign, to remind guests what the special day is about. Each piece sits back with flowers and adding small colourful poses will compliment the bridesmaids dresses.
Noting the stationary below there is a divine hand writing throughout. Stylish font, floral notes, beautiful illustrations. The way the details flow throughout is simply gorgeousness! Incorporating this style of stationary will bring the vavavoom to your theme and will set the scene from the moment the save the dates are received. Matching colours to your bridesmaids dresses will be a stunning touch.
We hope we've inspired you and got your create juices flowing! Happy planning xx

Weddings........it's on the detail x

Hi fairy bugs,
Welcome to this weeks "weddings....... it's in the detail". We have yet another super idea for you to personalise your special day, with personalization being the main focus.
Wedding guests are family and friends but they don't always know the special moments you and you H2B have shared in the lead up to your special day. Holidays shared, unique moments, funny snaps, activities, pets bought etc......so why not create a space were guests can see all your cherished memories? Pick out the best shots that really mean something to your and your H2B and display them for everyone to see. There are many ways to do this although we have picked out the below image for its shabby chic edge and it's make do and mend details. Other ideas include:

Oversized frame with a collage of imagery
Super imposed imagery on a newspaper
Mixed frames with annotations
Washing line with photos
Bunting made from photos
Birdcage with imagery and notes clipped on
The possibilities are endless.....

.....but no matter how you choose to display your memories, you will still achieve the personal touch. Making your wedding day more special, and helping your guests to understand your journey into becoming man and wife xx

Real life Wedding: Neil and Natasha Clarke

Set in the rolling Lancashire hills a rather traditionally epic abode sits pretty beyond a delightful bridge and brook. The wedding of Neil and Natasha took place at the Ferrari's hotel, a stunning stone built venue with 360 views and quaint levelled gardens. A perfect start to a perfect day.
As you made your way through the venue Neil and Natasha's highlight colours became very apparent. Navy lifted with a soft baby pink, a lovely theme for a march wedding.  Natasha had chosen to dress her bridesmaids in full length navy dresses with stunning lace detailing while the groomsmen's echoed the bridesmaids in navy and added the pink element through matching ties. Blending beautifully the bridal party looked classic and tailored. The bride looked stunning as she sashayed down the isle. With a chiffon panelled top section to cover her décolletage, pleated bustier that nipped in at the waist and full skirting trimmed with delicate lace the dress was beautifully chic!
Natasha had seamlessly pieced together vital bridal detailing with floral bouquets and pins delicately constructed consisting of perfect roses and baby's breath which, added depth and a rather sweet feminine touch. The roses were a shade of softened pink and sat back with the bows tied around the chairs.
Once the ceremony had taken place and the happy tears from the "I do's" were wiped away, the bridal party and guests made their way outside to the picture perfect gardens for the sun blessed photo opportunitys. Supplied with a Buck's Fizz and doilie cones full of dried petals, guests congratulated the new Mr and Mrs Clarke and sprinkled them with a light dusting of pretty petals. As formal photos came to an end a rather yummy offering of canapés proceeded to do the rounds; mini fish and chips, bruschetta, spag Bol balls and mini beef Yorkshire Puds went down a treat. Wine and beer a flowing and the merriment continued into the Wedding breakfast.
The table plan was showcased in a grand ornate frame displayed on an easel. Stationary was designed to mirror the save the date magnetic tags all guests received. Tables were set with precision with a metal work glass vase sat centrally filled with a dancing candle. They shimmered throughout the room adding a romantic element to the setting.
Guests were treated to a special favour, "Your bag of happiness contains"

A PLASTER to heal you when you are hurt
A LOVE HEART so you know that someone loves you
STRING to hold it together in tough times
A RUBBER to erase those little mistakes
A DIAMOND to make your life sparkle
A MARBLE for when you start losing yours
A LUCKY BEAN so you always have luck on your side
A COIN so you are never completely broke
A STAR for you to wish upon
A PAPER CLIP so you are always organised
A KISS for when you are feeling down

As wine flowed and delicious food devoured yours truly sampled black pudding with scallops to start, chicken with vegetables in a divine creamy sauce for main and sticky toffee for desert.......needless to say every guest was at bursting point, but there is always room for the candy cart. Oh yes! Taking you back to your childhood the wooden candy cart offered a fantastic array of jelly and candy sweets. Bags were stuffed and guests chomped happily.
As food digested it was time to leave a message for the happy couple. Not only had Neil and Natasha left a guest book for signing but had a frame filled with rows of mini hearts were guests could leave their well wishes. A perfect piece of wall art to remember their special day.
Next was the traditional cutting of the cake. A stylish tiered cake surrounded with ribbons, pearls and topped with florals detailing was perched prettily on a table for husband and wife to slice before a heart felt first dance, were the couple looked lovingly at each other. A moment all will treasure.
As the evening reception kicked in a couple more surprises popped up, fun dance floor rules and flip flops which, allowed you to kick off your heels and dance the whole night away.
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Clarke we hope you have a Bibbidi bobbidi boo, happy ever after xx

Wedding Inspiration of the Week x

Hi fairy bugs,
Welcome to this weeks "Wedding inspiration of the week". We're embracing spring, new blooms and longer brighter days. Lemon is the hue of choice. Happy, lifting, fresh, it makes a room glow and people smile. Who wouldn't love a colour with such a positive impact!
There aren't many colours that symbol a season and time of year, quite as well as yellow. In it's brighter tones it's positive, warming and powerful while in its lighter shades it echos new starts, new season and calm energy. In a nut shell it's a splendid choice for a spring/summer, typically English wedding.
Florals elements are best delicate but full of impact. Mixing baby's breath with roses is a simple pocket friendly option which, creates a pretty, full and vintage-esque bouquet. Using the same flowers as centre pieces but composing them with old vintage tins, teapots or bucks will add depth and style. Button holes could simple with a single lemon stem, but complete he outfit with a colour tie, waistcoat or shirt.
When we saw the cake below we fell in love. Stylish, colour blocked and effective the stencil detail is a great way to break up the block of yellow but add a pattern, which could sit back back with bridesmaids dresses or stationary.
Have you thought about stationary using an eclectic mix of patterned paper and fabrics will show your theme at its best while showcasing your impeccable taste. Check out the image below. Mixed tones, mixed print and mixed sizes creates a delightful piece of post. Then intro orate het patterns throughout your day, favours, seating plans, name cards, fun signage........the options are endless.
Not forgetting the fun element and icon of the yellow world.....the lemon. We loved the bucket full of lemons with the wedding sign.........why not use lemons to bring a fun element to your tables, name card holders or simply use slices in a vase of flowers.
Happy wedding planning xx
